The Golden State Warriors are no longer considering a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Following deals heading to the NBA’s trade deadline on Thursday, and moving valuable assets, the altered franchise plan was confirmed by ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania on Wednesday.
While other teams around the league reportedly remain in pursuit of the Greek superstar, the Milwaukee Bucks appear content on holding on to the 31-year-old point forward, at least until the end of the 2025-26 season, awaiting projected improved offers in the summer.

After reviewing current bids, the Bucks are now expected to be patient, hoping to maximize compensation for the Greek Freak during the offseason. Potential suitors will indeed have additional assets available after the end of the 2025-26 season, with more time to carefully repackage respective bids. Otherwise, they would need to convince Giannis to make a strong bid for a second career championship in Milwaukee.
Currently sidelined due to a right calf strain, the native of Athens is also focusing on his recovery, countering talks about his future. Making his way to 30 games of the Regular Season, at the top of his 13th year with the Bucks, he tallied 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per contest. At 20-29, the team coached by Doc Rivers is 4.5 games away from the Play-In zone of the Eastern Conference.
Beyond a lengthy stay with the Bucks, since being selected with the 15th overall draft pick in 2013, has been a regular for the senior national team of Greece over recent years, after debuting at the junior level in the U20 European Championship 2013. Last summer’s EuroBasket 2025 marked his most important achievement, a bronze medal with the team coached by Vassilis Spanoulis.
