This weekend, the entire NBA world turns its attention to Los Angeles for the All-Star festivities.
Turkish national team standout and Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün will be part of the event for the second straight year, following another outstanding season.
Before the game — a mini-tournament featuring Team USA Stars, USA Stripes, and the World team — Şengün was asked whether he and Israeli international Deni Avdija, who is set to make his All-Star debut, could use the platform to help bring people together, given everything happening around the world.
“That stuff is a lot bigger than us. We are going to represent our countries the best we can. Deni is a hard worker, great guy, great person, one of my good friends in this league. We are here doing what we love and other stuff is out of our control. Hopefully, basketball brings everyone to love and to stay together. That’s why we are here for. Other stuff is out of our control. Hopefully the whole world is in peace, that’s all we want,” Şengün said.
