Giannis Antetokounmpo has reaffirmed his commitment to the Milwaukee Bucks following a turbulent period of trade rumors, expressing his deep desire to recapture the emotions of winning an NBA championship.
“As of today, I’m committed to the Milwaukee Bucks,” the Greek superstar stated in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. “I’m committed to the people that I work with, my teammates, the coaching staff, Coach Doc [Rivers], and [GM] Jon [Horst] in the front office”.
“What I’ve said from the beginning of this year is that, out of my mouth and the way I’ve carried myself, you will never hear me say I don’t want to be a Milwaukee Buck,” he added, largely dismissing reports regarding his potential exit from the franchise.
Drafted 15th overall in 2013 on the way to being labeled as the Greek Freak, he has spent his entire career in Milwaukee. He won the 2021 NBA championship, where he was named Finals MVP. His accolades also include two regular-season MVP awards and 10 All-Star selections.
“I want that steak again. And I don’t want to miss out,” he used a foot metaphor, referring to the chase for a second title. “Players that have played in the NBA for a lot of years that have never won, they don’t know what they’re really missing out”.
In the 2025-26 Regular Season, his 13th with the Bucks, the Athens native has averaged 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per contest.
Currently dealing with a right calf strain, Antetokounmpo has not played since January 23 and missed the 2026 All-Star Game. The Bucks entered the All-Star break at 23–30, sitting in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, currently 1.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the final Play-In spot.
