The New York Knicks halted the San Antonio Spurs’ 11-game winning streak with a convincing 114-89 victory, overpowering the Western Conference contenders with a decisive stretch spanning the first and second quarters and firm control after halftime.
Their 11-0 record in February marked just the third perfect month in franchise history. They previously posted a 16-0 March in 1996 and repeated the feat in March 2014 — the same season they went on to capture the NBA title. Not since the 2015-16 campaign had San Antonio strung together 11 consecutive wins and that’s why San Antonio managed to get a 19-7 lead behind Victor Wembanyama. But the momentum shifted quickly. Jalen Brunson ignited the response, scoring 11 first-quarter points as part of a game-changing 26-2 run that flipped the scoreboard and the tone of the night.
From there, New York dictated the rhythm. Mikal Bridges took over in the third quarter, finishing with 25 points and repeatedly answering every Spurs push. Brunson added 24, steering the offense without needing a late scoring burst.
Wembanyama posted 25 points and 13 rebounds but found little sustained support as the Spurs’ offense stalled. Playing deep into a road trip, San Antonio faded in the fourth while the Knicks tightened defensively and extended the margin.
