Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 2025–26 journey came to an abrupt end following an awkward landing after a dunk on March 15. The 31-year-old superstar did not play another game for the Milwaukee Bucks, finishing with a career-low 36 games in the NBA Regular Season, heavily marked by physical hurdles and team turmoil. With the setbacks behind him, the Greek Freak has taken to a very early summer in Milwaukee.
“Man, I’ve been working,” he told Jim Owczarski of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I’ve really been working.”
While he maintained he was healthy enough to play after his season-ending injury, a several-month break from competitive game play has left his body feeling completely rejuvenated.

“I’m not in pain,” he underlined. “My knee’s not hurting. My back is not hurting.”
After confirming his decision to skip this offseason’s FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers with the senior national team of Greece, Antetokounmpo has looked to this summer from a skills development perspective.
“I’ve seen the difference, which I’m very excited for,” mentioned the 31-year-old point forward. “Because this is going to be the first year in my career that I’m going to go from January, pretty much, until October, fully healthy. I can work on whatever I want.”

Meanwhile, the Bucks are exploring trade options for Giannis, with ownership demanding a resolution before the annual draft on June 23. With one guaranteed year left on his contract, and expected to decline an extension, this has prompted suitors to prepare offers.
