Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom continues to make news, this time by inviting United States President Donald Trump to watch him play in the WNBA.
After reaching out to Trump during a campaign rally in Oklahoma, the 34-year-old center announced the invitation on social media. Freedom added that Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman has agreed to prepare him as a coach during the upcoming offseason.
The development follows his push to enter the WNBA Draft 2027 next April.
After a great conversation with President @realDonaldTrump,
I officially invited him to my first @WNBA game in 2027.Also, @NBA Hall of Famer @dennisrodman has agreed to coach me this offseason and get me ready for the #WNBA season.

Freedom claims that a strict look at league eligibility rules regarding self-identification allows him to clear the requirements to register. While the move has drawn attention from various areas pressing the league on its policies, the WNBA has already signaled that he will not be considered eligible.
The veteran of 807 games has been out of the NBA since early 2022, when the Houston Rockets waived him. During his 11 seasons in the league, he suited up for multiple franchises, including the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers, and Boston Celtics.
Previous interactions with the WNBA have already caused heavy friction. Security teams escorted him out of an August matchup between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky following a courtside dispute with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. He was wearing a T-shirt defining a woman as an adult human female, which led to a verbal confrontation and an immediate arena ban. The incident prompted the veteran center to file a federal lawsuit, claiming that the ejection violated his First Amendment rights.
