Norris Cole, a former basketball player for several NBA teams, as well as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Monaco, ASVEL, Buducnost, Unicaja, and teams in Asia and Africa, is the new assistant coach for the Miami Heat‘s G League affiliate Sioux Falls Skyforce.

This news was confirmed by Heat‘s head coach Erik Spoelstra, who emphasized that he remained in contact with Cole, whom he led to NBA rings, over the years, as reported by the Miami Herald.

“I love it. He and I have been talking for probably at least three years. Every offseason, he’s reached out to me asking. Initially, it was just about coaching and what that looks like. He expressed some interest in it. He just wanted to know more about it. Those were conversations that I just kept in my pocket.”

Cole himself also confirmed his excitement, highlighting what he has experienced in his career.

“I have been into public speaking, been a trainer, basketball trainer, mentor, got a mentorship program with my Route Thirty program. So, I’ve still been around the game. I just haven’t necessarily been around the NBA that much. But I’ve always kept in contact with the Heat. I still would come to games when I was in town. So, I’ve been affiliated from afar.”
