Following his first appearance with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2026 NBA preseason, LeBron James reflected on adjusting to a new roster. The four-time champion and the league’s all-time leading scorer knows that building chemistry takes patience.
“It’s obviously a small sample size,” he emphasized in a postgame media session, after sharing the floor with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey against the Brooklyn Nets in Barclays Center on Thursday. “We’re still trying to learn each other on the floor. We’re still trying to put each other in a position to be successful and complement each other the best way we can out on the floor. It’s going to take some time.”
“We’re just trying to build on what we’ve been doing in training camp,” added the 41-year-old forward.
Following the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers, he steps into his 24th NBA season in a new Philly uniform. “It felt a little different,” said James. “The game is the game. The games need to be played on the floor. I was happy to be able to lock some minutes with the guys that we’ve been going at each other in practice for the last, what, two weeks, or week and a half, or whatever the case may be.”
Up next, the Sixers face the Boston Celtics in TD Garden on Saturday and in Xfinity Mobile Arena next Friday. Opening the 2026–27 Regular Season, they visit the defending champions New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden on October 20.
