The Miami Heat are monitoring Pelle Larsson as he battles a lingering illness during the NBA Preseason 2026.
Drafted with the 44th overall pick in 2024, the 25-year-old Swedish guard is entering his third year in the league. He established himself as a starter during his sophomore campaign. However, the sickness has slowed him down ahead of the 2026–27 Regular Season, forcing him to miss practices and exhibition games.
Larsson opened up about his physical struggles. “Really, just been having headaches,” he mentioned. “I caught something when we were in Quebec City, or on the way back, or something.”
“Since then, I didn’t feel right and took some days off, came back, just came back a little too quick. I didn’t respect it, maybe, and tried to tough it out. And now, just taking it slower,” he added.
His recovery is crucial for a diverse squad. The roster features a large European contingent. Alongside the Stockholm native, Erik Spoelstra has Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, Italian Simone Fontecchio, Russian Vladislav Goldin, and Serbian Nikola Jovic.
“It’s hard to say, because I was feeling fine,” he described his status for the regular-season opener after limited participation in team practice on Tuesday. “I’m just taking it slow, step-by-step, and can’t really put a percentage on it.”
Therefore, he is considered doubtful to play Wednesday’s prep matchup opposite the Brooklyn Nets at Kaseya Center. After that, Miami hits the road to face the Orlando Magic at the Kia Center on Friday. They tip off Regular Season at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves next Wednesday.
