The Miami Heat secured a victory in their penultimate preseason game, defeating the Brooklyn Nets 144-128.
Giannis Antetokounmpo fell just short of a triple-double by one assist, finishing the game with 20 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists.
After the match, he highlighted that things are going in the right direction and that the team is playing well, as evidenced by the 144 points scored.
“Obviously, the more I play with my teammates and the team, the more comfortable I feel. This is my third game, and I will just play with all my strength. You know, my teammates and the coaching staff want me to be aggressive, to try to create plays, and that’s something I will continue to do. Sometimes it will work, other times it won’t. But, you know, I’m having fun. The team plays well together. Our offense looks good. Defensively, I think we need to do a little better, but scoring 144 points seems good to me.”
He added that he eagerly anticipates the start of the regular season but also mentioned that the team needs more minutes to reach the right level.
“I feel that our chemistry is at its highest levels. Obviously, it can get better. But we have such good players who try to do the right thing and encourage each other. So it doesn’t matter who plays, the players will go out on the court, give everything they have, and play hard. It’s fun to be part of such a team. I think we have something special, but we have to stay like this, as if we haven’t done anything yet. It’s just the preseason. The season hasn’t even started, but we have a great team, and the most important thing is they are good people, good teammates.
I believe that the more I play, the more comfortable I will feel. It’s obvious, but I feel good. My teammates tell me what they need from me. The coach and the coaching staff, you know, they are constantly talking to me. I just want the season to start, I want to be able to get things going. It’s just the preseason. Obviously, I try to play hard whenever I can. But it’s still the preseason. I want the regular season to start.”
