The Los Angeles Lakers waived Dalton Knecht ahead of the NBA’s roster deadline, while the Milwaukee Bucks also released Kevin Porter Jr. to finalize their squad for the upcoming season.

Knecht’s departure, reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, ended his two-season stint with the Lakers. The No. 17 pick in the 2024 draft averaged 9.1 points and 2.8 rebounds as a rookie but struggled in his second season. Los Angeles reportedly explored a trade before opting to waive him.

The Lakers had previously agreed to send Knecht to Charlotte in the 2025 trade for Mark Williams, but the deal was rescinded after Williams failed his physical.

Porter, who played for PAOK in 2024 before returning to the NBA, was released as Milwaukee reduced its perimeter options. Injuries limited him to 38 appearances last season, though he averaged 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.2 steals.

The former PAOK guard joined the Bucks from the Los Angeles Clippers in February 2025. He underwent right knee surgery in April 2026, ending his regular season early.
