Following the NBA Preseason 2026, the Los Angeles Lakers are shifting focus to the 2026–27 Regular Season. Luka Doncic talked about team chemistry, health, and his role on a revamped roster after Monday’s practice.
Asked if his leadership style has changed since his early days in Madrid or his time in Dallas, the 27-year-old guard deferred to his teammates. “I think that’s the question for other people, how this team sees a leader,” he underlined. “I’m just my own leader. Like I said, I’ve been in these situations a lot, but I think I’m doing a great job with this group.”
The squad faces a steep learning curve, natural growing pains. Key starters are still learning how to play together. When pressed on how much patience the group will need early on, Doncic kept a practical outlook. “I don’t know how much patience is going to be needed,” he admitted. “Just the start of a new season, a lot of new guys, but I can’t see in the future, so I don’t know how much patience we’re going to need.”
An injury cut his previous year short. However, the Slovenian superstar confirmed he is healthy and ready for a fresh chapter. He brushed off any extra pressure, focusing strictly on the game itself. “Excited to start playing,” he calmly replied. “Nothing new, I’m always very excited.”
Starting an 82-game marathon, the Lakers open the new season Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors at crypto.com Arena.
