With the Miami Heat now dealing with a 0–4 start in the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season, Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo looks for patience rather than alarm.
Coming out of his first Heat triple-double on Monday, the 31-year-old point forward suggested that anxiety might be hindering on-court chemistry.
“I feel like sometimes you want something so bad that you kind of freeze in the moment,” he noted in the locker room. “As bad as it might sound, you’ve got to take a breath, relax and just play basketball.”
The spotlight has intensified on co-star Bam Adebayo, whose sluggish offensive opening has drawn sharp media scrutiny.
“It’s not just Bam, it’s everybody,” countered Giannis when asked if his teammate is struggling to adapt to a new partnership. “Everybody try to figure out where we fit in and what we got to do.”
Expectations were high, making this winless start a jarring reality check. While admitting to being a little bit surprised by their placement at the bottom of the standings, Antetokounmpo remained steadfast that the group has time to turn things around.
“There’s 78 more games to go,” he mentioned, referencing the lengthy regular season. “We are going to figure it out.”
“We all have to take a deep breath, and eventually we’re going to figure it out,” he added. “You cannot press the panic button and panic. Because it’s only going to get worse if you start panicking.”
Up next, Erik Spoelstra’s side faces the Atlanta Hawks in State Farm Arena on Wednesday.
