Following a dominant performance on Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers improved to 6–2 in the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season by defeating the Miami Heat at crypto.com Arena. The victory was driven by a fluid offensive display masterminded by Luka Doncic, who has carried the team on a historic scoring tear to open the year, averaging 38.3 points per game.
Reflecting on the team’s ball movement against Miami, Doncic praised how naturally the current game plan operates. “I think it’s just flowing. I think we’re sharing the ball really well,” he started his postgame press conference. “They obviously put two on me, so we just share the ball.”
The Heat frequently tried to blitz and trap the playmaker, but the Lakers countered by finding open players on the perimeter. Doncic acknowledged that handling heavy defensive pressure has been a focus for the roster since opening night. “I think at the beginning of the season we didn’t execute well the double team. But as you saw today, I think we improved a lot. Everybody was in the right spots,” he stressed.
“It’s not just me, I think it’s everybody,” added the Slovenian superstar. “Just to be in the right spot, be aggressive, and shoot with confidence.”
From a tough loss to the Golden State Warriors to back-to-back wins, the 27-year-old guard noted that the locker room never lost faith. “We believe in ourselves,” he pointed out. “We go into every game thinking we can win the game. We’re going to fight until the end. Obviously, we are not going to win every game. So you need to learn from those losses and keep moving.”
JJ Redick’s squad will look to carry this momentum on the road as they resume action on Wednesday, traveling north to face off against the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center.
