Only five other players in NBA history have played that long:

21 Seasons: Robert Parish, Kevin Willis and Kevin Garnett
20 Seasons: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Kobe Bryant

Nowitzki is set to join Kobe as the only players to play 20 seasons with one team.

Carter and Nowitzki were selected four spots apart in the 1998 NBA Draft … before several members of the 2017 NBA Draft class were born. Both were involved in trades on draft night. They were also teammates for three seasons with the Mavericks.

Carter and Nowitzki have won the last two Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year awards. Carter presented Nowitzki with the trophy at the inaugural NBA Awards.

By the end of the season, Nowitzki could crack the NBA’s top five in games played and become the seventh player ever to log 50,000 minutes.

Carter is 445 points shy of 25,000 – a mark achieved by 20 players in NBA history. In his last three seasons, Carter has averaged 455 points.
