Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert is among the three finalists for the 2017-2018 Defensive Player of the Year award, the NBA announced.
The other two major contenders are Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and New Orleans Pelicans big Anthony Davis who’s also a finalist for winning MVP.
Gobert finished the season averaging 2.3 blocks, 7.8 defensive rebounds (out of a total of 10.70 and 0.8 steals per game, apart from 13.5 points per game. The French center was second overall in Defensive Rating with 97.7 while Jazz were ranked fourth with 104.56, per NBA.com.
The winners of these awards will be revealed at the 2018 NBA Awards presented by Kia on Monday, June 25. The second annual NBA Awards will take place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.
