The name of two-time EuroLeague champion with CSKA Moscow Trajan Langdon is the matter of discussion as the next GM of Pelicans, and there is more to that when it comes to the head coach position.

Trajan Langdon’s playing career ended in 2011 with CSKA Moscow, though since he’s been involved in the industry as a scout for San Antonio Spurs and as a GM for Brooklyn Nets.

This time around, the former two-time EuroLeague champion’s name is reportedly on the Pelicans‘ radar for the GM position.

That being said, his arrival to the team might mean a coach with former Euro experience, or CSKA Moscow experience to be exact. Or at least that would be a legit assumption.

As noted by Fletcher Mackel, there are a few coaches Langdon could consider for Pelicans based on his own experience overseas.

First, David Vanterpool, with whom he was teammates in CSKA, and even saw him take assistant coach duties in the club from 2007 to 2012.

Then, Ettore Messina. One of EuroLeague’s most prominent coaches (two titles with CSKA, four overall). He and Langdon celebrated both said titles of the Russian club together.

Finally, there should also be the option of current Spurs assistant Becky Hammon. She shared space in the Russian side’s women’s team, from 2007 to 2009.

These, of course, remain safe assumptions, though based on Langdon’s spherical view of the sport, it wouldn’t be surprising if he made one of these picks, provided that he finally joins the Pelicans in this position.
