San Antonio Spurs won’t match Detroit Pistons’ offer to Serbian giant Boban Marjanovic.

Boban Marjanovic will join the Detroit Pistons in a 3-year, $21 million agreement per last week’s offer sheet, as the Spurs will not match the offer to keep the Serbian giant (and fan favorite). Marjanovic averaged 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 9.4 minutes in 54 games last season with the Spurs.

However, in order for Marjanovic to join the Pistons, the team has to renounce the rights of three players: guard Steve Blake, center Joel Anthony and big man Cameron Bairstow.

The Serbian player will be the team’s third center, adding needed depth and protection if Aron Baynes uses his player option and becomes a free agent next summer. Of course, he is expected to come off the bench behind Andre Drummond.
