Compared to the majority of promising upstarts attending the 2025 NBA draft combine in Chicago, Neoklis Avdalas has additional options, extending from the draft to the NCAA.
The 19-year-old Greek guard was intending to consider a withdrawal from the 2025 NBA Draft presented by State Farm and instead pursue an NCAA career, since submitting the necessary paperwork to become eligible for NBA teams. The withdrawal deadline for international early entrants lacking a current connection to a college in the United States is June 15, instead of May 28.
Since leaving Peristeri Domino’s following the conclusion of the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League journey and late in the Stoiximan GBL campaign of the Greek club, he has focused his efforts on draft preparations, but has already visited Baylor and Virginia Tech, is likely to also meet with Kansas State, and is also drawing interest from Ole Miss, as reported by ESPN.
Meanwhile, Avdalas displayed his talents to NBA scouts throughout the combine week. The process for all the youngsters in the mix will extend to additional workouts for specific NBA teams, leading up to the 2025 draft.
Besides the deadline, it is unclear at what point the native of Athens would decide to possibly withdraw his name from the draft pool and instead consider NCAA offers.
The 2025 draft will be held in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, with the first round on June 25 and the second round on June 26.
In 2022, Avdalas signed a five-year contract with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos Aktor. After playing in seven Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games and debuting in the top-flight division of Greece, he was loaned to Karditsa Iaponiki for the 2023-24 season and to Peristeri for the 2024-25 season.
