Another European talent is on the move to the NCAA. According to Jonathan Givony, Real Madrid‘s Declan Duru has committed to Texas.

The 18-year-old power forward had a strong showing for silver medalist Germany at last week’s FIBA U19 World Cup, averaging 11.4 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Duru began his basketball journey with the Internationale Basketballakademie München before briefly joining the youth team of Basketball Löwen Braunschweig. In 2021, he moved to Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, where he quickly found success—winning the Spanish championship with the U14 team, and later twice more with the U16 squad.

He made his senior debut on October 5, 2022, playing for Real Madrid’s B team in Spain’s fourth division (Liga EBA), while also competing with the U16 and U18 teams. In the 2023/24 season, he helped Real Madrid’s U18 squad win the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament.

Duru made his official professional debut for Real Madrid’s senior team on November 3, 2024, in a league game against UCAM Murcia, and shortly after, on November 12, earned his first EuroLeague minutes.
