Spanish guard Rubén Domínguez has a new destination. The 23-year-old shooting guard from Puerto Real, after a season with the Texas A&M Aggies, has signed with Xavier University in the Big East.
Days after officially submitting his entry to the NCAA Transfer Portal, the former Surne Bilbao player is headed to the Musketeers, a historic school that, despite not being at its peak, is making significant additions to its roster this summer.
The signing was made official on Saturday, April 11. In his sophomore year, Rubén Domínguez will look to develop as a player under the guidance of Richard Pitino, son of the legendary Rick, and improve his game for the coming seasons of his career.
After averaging 10.2 points and shooting 40% from three-point range at Texas A&M, the Spaniard will try to improve the fortunes of a Xavier team that finished with a 15-18 overall record and a 6-14 record in the Big East, placing second to last in the conference, ahead of only Georgetown.
Aiming to catch Villanova, St. John’s, and UConn, the Musketeers are making significant additions to their roster in this Transfer Portal, and one of the key pieces for next season will be Rubén Domínguez.
