The Senegalese national team will not participate in the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia, after COVID-19 related disruptions to their preparations in Germany. Senegal was set to play a friendly game against Germany before the tournament.

The team did not receive clearance by the German authorities to fly to Serbia late last week after their COVID-19 positives, in order to prepare for their OQT games, despite the efforts of FIBA.

Per FIBA’s announcement, Senegal’s scheduled games will not take place with Italy and Puerto Rico taking the points by way of forfeit. No other games in Belgrade are impacted and FIBA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely.
