Starting his fourth season in the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Aleksej Pokusevski then moved to the Hornets to keep playing alongside his countryman Vasilije Micic. From then on, he significantly improved personally despite Charlotte ending 13th in the East at 21-61.

Talking to Mozzart Sport, the 22-year-old spoke about his time in Charlotte, where he averaged 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. “It’s a positive feeling which is very important for me for things to come. I’m happy to finish the season playing at a good level compared to what happened at the beginning. I’m grateful for the chance I got from the Hornets, he said about his team.

Commenting on Vasilije Micic, he had nothing but great words. “He had a great influence on my work and mindset that helped me improve even when I didn’t play for a few months. He helped me to stay ready until the end. When the chance opened up for me in Charlotte, I used it quite solidly. I’m grateful that I had him by my side every day, where he influenced me with his advice and experience”, he said.

There might be an opportunity for both of them to share the court at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as well, playing with the Serbian national team. “That is, of course, a question for the coach, but I have a great desire and will do my best to be there”, Aleksej Pokusevski wished on this upcoming summer.

Included in Serbia’s extended list before the 2023 FIBA World Cup, the former Oklahoma City Thunder missed the tournament due to a shoulder injury. Svetislav Pesic’s team ended in second place, losing to Germany in the Final and qualifying for the Olympics, where Aleksej Pokusevski has set his eyes.
