Hapoel Jerusalem issued a statement, asking for the Winner League Finals between the team and Maccabi Tel Aviv to resume despite Friday’s (13/6) attacks by Iran on major Israeli cities.
The series is tied 1-1 and Game 3 is scheduled to be played Sunday (15/6) in Maccabi‘s Menorah Mivtachim Arena, Tel Aviv.
Hapoel’s statement is as follows:
“Hapoel “Bank Yahav” Jerusalem is closely following the latest developments and praying for the safety of all Israeli citizens and security forces.
The complexity of the situation the country finds itself in is clear to all of us, and there is no shadow of a doubt that the safety of the players and the audience is above all else. Hapoel firmly supports holding Game No. 3 and crowning the national champion on the court. We are ready to play at any place or time that is determined, out of a commitment to the fans and the value of sportsmanship. We hope that our opponent also wants to decide the title according to the values of sports – on the field only.
Hoping for quieter and better days.”
