Joffrey Lauvergne joined Kuwait SC, his agent announced on Sunday.
The 34-year-old French center has been a free agent since parting ways with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in June. The new challenge is with the nearly constant Kuwait champions.
Lauvergne is a veteran of 170 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, including 19 in the 2024-25 edition of Europe’s premier club continental competition with 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks per contest. His spell with ASVEL lasted three years, following two seasons with Zalgiris and two with Fenerbahce Beko between 2018 and 2022. From 2012 to 2014, the initial stint went from an introduction with Elan Chalon to a sophomore campaign with Partizan NIS.
In 2013, Lauvergne was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 55th overall pick of the annual NBA draft, paving the way for a run in the North American league from 2015 to 2018. He logged 212 games played with the Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, and Oklahoma City Thunder. His career averages settled into 5.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest.
Suiting up for the senior national team of France, the native of Alsace was a Les Bleus regular from 2013 to 2017. He captured a gold medal in the EuroBasket 2013, before also earning bronze in the FIBA World Cup 2014 and EuroBasket 2015. The remaining assignments in FIBA tournaments were in the Olympic Games 2016 and EuroBasket 2017.
