Hapoel Tel Aviv’s quarterfinal loss to Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem (93-83) was marked by incident involving the club’s owner, Ofer Yannay.
During the game, Yannay repeatedly filmed the opposing coach, Yonatan Alon, and attempted to show the footage to referees.
When asked to leave his spot near the opposing bench in the second quarter, he refused, causing a 10-minute delay.
Following an investigation, the Israeli Basketball Association handed down sanctions:
Yannay received a 60,000 NIS fine, plus 100,000 NIS conditional, and a two-month ban from courtside access (he may only watch from the stands). Hapoel Tel Aviv was also fined 110,000 NIS, according to Arale Weisberg.
