Texas Tech prevailed with ease by 10 points (61-51) over Michigan State and didn’t even celebrated. “We came down to play 80 minutes, not 40,” said Red Raiders sophomore guard Jarrett Culver.

Texas Tech never won a national championship in men’s basketball and now Italian guard Davide Morreti, son of former player Paolo Morreti, and company had a golden chance. With that being said, Moretti, who was the hero against Gonzaga in the Elite Eight, had just five points against Michigan State. Matt Mooney with 22 was the hero of the night.

In the final Texas Tech will face Virginia which got a close 63-62 win over Auburn. The game was decided by a call, as Auburn junior guard Samir Doughty made contact with Kyle Guy on the desperation heave in the corner and was whistled for the foul by official James Breeding.

Guy made all three free throws with 0.6 seconds left, sending Virginia to Monday’s championship game and Auburn home for the season.
