LNB has sent to the clubs of the two French professional leagues Jeep Elite (first division) and Pro B (second division) a document that includes several proposals that have to do with the format, number of teams and other details regarding the 2020-2021 season.

Per L’Equipe, LNB proposed a couple of resolution options for the upcoming season. The LNB general assembly will meet on May 27 and must decide on whether 2020-2021 will feature 18 or 20 teams and even the possibility of playing all or a part of the games behind closed doors.

Regarding the number of teams, LNB has considered a number of frames in which teams will be or not be promoted/relegated between the two major divisions. These plans will determine the ultimate number of teams that the leagues will feature.

The document of LNB also practically confirms that the 2019-2020 season is canceled since there is no longer a scenario for the potential resumption of the season in September. LNB previously examined the option to finish the season early in the next fall.
