In the closing game of Turkish League Day 5, Fenerbahce prevailed 86-79 against Anadolu Efes after overtime.

With the score 70-69 in Efes‘ favor, Nikola Kalinic notched a triple for Fenerbahce putting them ahead (72-70) with 20 seconds left. In the following offense, Shane Larkin drew a foul, made both free throws and sent the game into overtime. Fenerbahce quickly went ahead with five points from Kostas Sloukas which was enough to secure the game.

Kalinic scored 17 points while Sloukas was right behind with 16 and Jan Vesely posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. On the other side, Adrien Moerman scored game-high 18 points in addition to Bryant Dunston‘s 16 points.

After a fairly balanced first quarter (26-23), Fenerbahce distanced a bit with a 42-32 lead but Efes managed to recover before halftime (44-40). The hosts were successfully keeping an upper hand throughout the third quarter but Efes stayed close and eventually took over the lead early in the fourth quarter (60-59) bringing the game to an interesting finish.

During the weekend, Diante Garrett put on a strong performance leading Tofas to a road win against Darussafaka.

Fenerbahce stayed the only undefeated team in the Turkish League as they won all five games so far. Tofas is behind them with a 4-1 record while Banvit – which didn’t play a game this week – is at the bottom with four losses.
