Turkish Basketball Federation president Hedo Turkoglu expressed his belief that BSL (Turkish League) is the most successful domestic league in Europe.
“They always compare us [Turkish League] to Spain [Spanish League], but the most successful league is our league, Turkoglu said in an interview with Skorer TV. “Obviously we are facing some financial processes, but, looking at the whole picture, we believe that our league is a healthy one. For this reason, we meet with our clubs at every opportunity and exchange views for more sustainable and steady investments. We are the Federation with the highest sponsorship income in Europe. We think we are doing a good job with our television rights, our cooperation with partners and sponsors.”
ACB (Spanish League) and BSL (Turkish League) have been widely considered as the top domestic leagues in Europe in the last couple of years, along with VTB League (a collective championship that includes the top teams from Russia, plus teams from Latvia, Poland, Belarus, Estonia, and Kazakhstan).
Eurohoops had ranked BSL as the top domestic league in the continent following the 2014-2015 season. In the last three rankings (2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019), ACB holds the first place.
