EurohooPOD welcomed Bobby Dixon, a.k.a Ali Muhammad, as the special guest of Episode 4.

Dixon, 38, called it a day after a career of 15 years but stayed at Fenerbahce Beko as the Individual Development Coach and Infrastructure Ambassador. The American-born naturalized Turkish spent the last six seasons of his playing career at Fenerbahce following briefer stints at teams located all across Europe.

The former EuroLeague champion’s discussion with EurohooPOD hosts Antonis Stroggylakis and Antigoni Zachari stretched through several interesting topics, starting with his decision to retire, when and how he took it, in the same summer that several marquee names in EuroLeague hanged their shoes (12:51).

Dixon further discussed his new role with Fenerbahce, as an Individual Development Coach and Infrastructure Ambassador and mapped his key responsibilities in his new position (15:45).

The latest EurohooPOD guest also discussed his status as a “late bloomer”, as he established himself in the EuroLeague stage in his 30s, while he picked out the most memorable moments at Fenerbahce and explained how the 2015 Turkish championship with Pinar Karsiyaka changed everything in his career (17:28).

Other highlights, why he can’t pick one favorite Fenerbahce teammate, the biggest lesson he took from Zeljko Obradovic, the life lesson he wants to transmit to other young players in his new role, if he considers himself an overachiever, as well as the stories and background behind the mottos and hashtags that have followed him (Over Height, Uptown Mamba) over the years (21:44).

Dixon also explained the most pissed off he felt after a game, and the answer will not surprise you, while the discussion ends with the most annoyed he ever became with something a coach told him (26:16).

In addition, the fourth episode of EurohooPOD looks into the new 7DAYS EuroCup season, favorites, underdogs, potential surprises, and why the new format is better and fairer.
