Vin Baker has made history with the Bucks as a player, and now he is one of the key persons who connect the franchise with Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family.
The assistant coach of the Milwaukee Bucks spoke to Eurohoops during the recent EuroBasket, where he was also present, spending time with Giannis and his family, and revealed many interesting details about the Greek Freak and also his days as a player.
However, the thing that stands out is that Vin Baker was the person who performed the ceremony in Giannis’ marriage in 2024.
“I was able to officiate Giannis’ wedding last summer, I was the minister, it was my first one, and I was honoured to do it”, Baker said, having the personal ambition to be a pastor, and also explained how Giannis’ mentality makes him a great player.
“At this point, he is 30 years old, a two-time MVP, an NBA champion, and he is still a student of the game”, Baker stated, adding also that Giannis, at his stage of his career, “is listening to his body more”.
On a personal level, Baker added about Giannis explaining why he spends practically the whole summer with him: “He is like my son, along with Kostas, along with Thanasis, along with Alex.”
Baker also addressed the issues of mental health and addiction, the fulfillment he feels working with the Bucks, his visit with Dennis Rodman to North Korea, and his role on Vince Carter’s “Dunk of Death” against Fred Weiss in the Sydney Olympics.
