Summer of 2014
The rebellion of the realms
When King David Blatt decided to cross the Ocean to conquer the new land, nobody expected what it was set in motion. The kingdom of Maccabi was never the same, its best warriors vanished and the Euroleague throne was open for the taking…
Spring of 2015
The winter was hard and strong, general Zeljiko Obradovic marched from Istanbul to the gates of Tel Aviv and Maccabi was down. However, in the end, Madrid was the one which prevailed.
While Obradovic’s former squire, Dimitris Itoudis, has risen to the head of CSKA’s army and moved towards Real’s realms and former CSKA’s colonel Giannis Sfairopoulos sailed from Piraeus to Spain, it was obvious that history was meant to be repeated. The favorite was down by Vasilis Spanoulis’ hands and the Reds, but in the final after 20 years of struggles, the dynasty of Real Madrid was restored. But, uneasy lies the head that wears such a heavy crown.
April 2016
The white banner of Real is still standing, but the “Whites” have to get to Berlin in order to stay on the throne. General Laso and sir Chacho can’t be cheerful. The danger comes from Catalonia and the East.
Obradovic and Fenerbahce are out for revenge. Itoudis and CSKA Moscow, after crippling Olympiacos, want the crown back. Duke Diamantidis of Athens wants to outrun his old generals. New forces from Vitoria and Belgrade want to be part of the struggle. And in Barcelona, they simply can’t stand one more year of Real Madrid’s reign.
The dawn is cracking and what must be done, it will be done. The games of the cup are starting…. (and you can follow them in Eurohoops)
