The Eurohoops “awards” are peaking with the best of the best in the EuroLeague and the All-EuroLeague First Team. Four small players and a big one are the picks of the website’s writers

We “awarded” Luka Doncic (Real Madrid) as the most improved player and Rising Star of the season in the EuroLeague, we saw in Ekpe Udoh (Fenerbahce) the best defender, we voted Shane Larkin (Baskonia) as the best rookie and we squeezed some of the biggest names in the game (Bogdanovic, Printezis, Singleton, Wanamaker & Randolph) in the All-EuroLeague Second Team. But there are some even bigger names, according to the preferences of the website’s writers and most of them play on the back court with a pretty big exception.

Here are our own best of the best:

Ekpe Udoh (Fenerbahce Istanbul): 23 picks in First Team
12 pts | 7.6 rbs | 1.9 as | 1 st | 2.1 bl | 1.2 to | 31:38 min | 19.9 PIR

His long arms and his experience cover the basket every time and helped Fenerbahce continue their streak of consecutive appearances (3) in the Final Four. But the one-time NBAer isn’t all defense (“Defender of the Season” by Eurohoops). He’s the only one with 23/23 First Team picks.

Sergio Llull (Real Madrid): 20 picks in First Team, 3 picks in Second Team
16.4 pts | 1.9 rbs | 5.9 as | 0.8 st | 0.1 bl | 2.3 to | 27:44 min | 16.8 PIR

Whether he’s in a good mood or not determines a lot in Real Madrid’s game, but fortunately for the team and unfortunately for their opponents, he’s almost always cheerful. The 29-year-old Spanish point guard is unstoppable in offense and always capable of the amazing.

Nando de Colo (CSKA Moscow): 13 picks in First Team, 10 picks in Second Team
19.4 pts | 2.9 rbs | 4 as | 1 st | 0.1 bl | 3.3 to | 26:59 min | 21.5 PIR

He returned from the NBA (in 2014) to climb to the top of Europe and he’s done it both at an individual as well as a club level with CSKA Moscow. His… a la French performances are a continuation of last year’s as the MVP of the season and of the Final Four, top scorer and member of the All-EuroLeague First Team.
