There are many things one can do on the court. Some do them better and some less so. There are only a few who can do what Alexey Shved does, as well as he does it.

In the eighth season of his career in the EuroLeague, the 29-year-old Russian shooting guard was hotter than ever, he blasted his point average to the career high of 21.8 (15.9 last season) and took the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy home.

With 740 points in 34 games (career high of 36 in his last one) he far exceeded the previous record of 609 total points (Keith Langford in 28 games last season), and very nearly broke the record for the highest point average ever (Marc Salyers 21.79 in 14 games in 2008).

He’s the fourth consecutive player of a Russian team – in fact, fourth different Russian team – that wins the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy, but the first Russian in the 14 years the award has been in existence.
