Crippled Khimki survives Astana’s big comeback

Khimki was missing several players due to injuries but still managed to get past a feisty Astana on the road in VTB United League

Although Astana made a big fourth-quarter comeback, Khimki still managed to get away with a 91-88 road win in VTB United League.

With four minutes left, Astana put on a 13-0 run led by Malcolm Hill’s nine points to tie the game at 88 but Stefan Jovic banked a triple for Khimki with 13 seconds left which gave them the win.

Devin Booker scored 19 for the victors followed by Dairis Bertans with 18 and Jovic with 13 points and eight assists. Khimki couldn’t count on Alexey Shved, Anthony Gill, Timofey Mozgov, Petr Gubanov, Jeremy Evans, Sergey Karasev and Janis Timma.

For Astana, Malcolm Hill finished with game-high 24 points while Jeremiah Hill notched a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Jeffrey Crockett added 17 and James Florence 13 points.

Khimki stayed comfortable at the top of the standings with a 17-1 record while Astana keeps the chase for a playoff spot with 6-10.
