UNICS Kazan officially announced the extension of veteran guard Alexey Shved, who will remain with the club for the 2026–27 season.
The 37-year-old Russian star joined UNICS in November 2025 and played a key role in the team’s campaign. Across 50 VTB United League regular-season and playoff games, Shved averaged 9.1 points, 5.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds in just over 21 minutes per game. His 5.7 assists per contest led the team.
In the international WINLINE Basket Cup, Shved posted averages of 9.0 points, 6.0 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals over five appearances.
Following the announcement, Shved expressed his happiness about continuing his career in Kazan.
“I am very happy to continue this journey with UNICS. This contract is especially valuable to me because, for the first time in a long time, my future was decided immediately after the season ended. I still have a huge desire to play, compete, help the club win and, of course, win the championship.”
A former EuroLeague champion and one of the most decorated players in Russian basketball history, Shved will now prepare for another season with UNICS as the club continues its pursuit of domestic and international success.
