After the arrest of three management members of Russian club “Krasny Oktyabr”, the team is now facing expulsion from the VTB League.

Executive director Diana Tskhomelidze, general director Caterina Pushkarskaya and chief accountant Natalia Tyumeneva, are now held in a temporary detention center, as Sport-Express.ru reported.

This took place after a search in the metallurgical plant with the name “Red October”, owned by the club’s president, Dmitry Gerasimenko (who also owns Italian Cantu), led to seizure of certain possibly incriminating documents.

The VTB League received a letter from Krasny Oktyabr with a request to postpone the game against Unics Kazan, which was scheduled for April 9, since the club is virtually “crippled” after the whole incident. Only if the aforementioned management members will be shortly released from custody, then the team will be able to finish the season properly. Otherwise, they will automatically lose their upcoming games versus Unics Kazan, Bisons Loimaa and Astana.

Meanwhile, according to R-Sports.ru, the former president of the Russian Basketball Federation, Julia Anikeeva, was arrested in Moscow and placed under house arrest on charges of fraud.
