Avtodor Saratov and head coach Evgeny Pashutin have mutually agreed to part ways, the Russian club officially announced. Pashutin had signed a one-year extension on May 21, following the completion of the regular season that found Saratov at the fifth place in the standings.

The announcement comes two days after the defeat of Avtodor to Zenit St. Petersburg at home in Game 3 of the VTB League quarterfinals and elimination with a 3-0 sweep.

Per club president Vladimir Rodionov, there are “conceptual difference in views on the development of the club” that have to do with the development of the young players.

“It’s a crime to not give our young guys a lot of playing time,” Rodionov said. “With our budget, we can’t afford to put young players behind foreign players. Rotation is important. Pashutin is a well-established specialist with his own well-established style of work. Nevertheless, it’s likely he won’t be able to trust the talented young Russian players before the foreign players.”
