The foreign players rule in VTB League will undergo a small, yet potentially significant change in 2018-2019.

Per Eurohoops sources, the number of foreign players that a team can have to have on its active roster at any given time is increased from seven to eight. A team will be eligible to use six foreign players in its 12-man squad and will be able to switch those players ahead of each game.

A “foreign player” in the VTB League is considered someone without a citizenship of the country of the team he plays for. The VTB League features teams from Russia (mainly), Latvia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and, from the upcoming season, also Poland (Zielona Gora).
