Jalen Reynolds, Zenit hand CSKA first loss

Jalen Reynolds put on a strong performance and led Zenit to a home win against, until now, undefeated CSKA in the VTB League.

Jalen Reynolds nailed 21 points and led Zenit Saint Petersburg to a 93-86 home win against CSKA Moscow, handing the ‘Army Men’ their first loss in the VTB League this season.

Reynolds shot 9-10 from the field while adding eight rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block for a total index rating of 31. Marko Simonovic banked all four shots from deep and finished the game with 15 points in addition to Philip Scrubb’s 17.

For CSKA, Sergio Rodriguez scored 15 and Mikhail Kulagin 13 points. Joel Bolomboy notched a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Zenit opened the game better nailing 34 points in the first quarter and going ahead in double-digits (34-24). They kept the distance at halftime (52-44) and although CSKA managed to tie the game near the end (82-82), Zenit made an 11-4 run and closed the game in their favor.

CSKA now holds a 13-1 record while Zenit improved to 8-5.
