Lokomotiv Kuban came back from 18 points down to defeat Zenit St. Petersburg 86 – 80 on the road in the VTB League Game of the Week. The winning squad improved to 3-1 while their opponents dropped to 2-3 following their third straight VTB loss.
Johnny O’ Bryant scored 18 points and Sam Dekker 13 (while being 8 in +/-) to pace Loko to this stunning comeback victory. Zenit was up 60 – 42 three minutes into the second half but the visiting side closed the quarter down by 62 – 55 following a jumper by Dekker and kept getting closer.
Dekker dropped a layup to tie it 70 – 70 and then Vitaly Fridzon and Will Cummings (12 points, five assists) handed their squad a 72 – 76 lead. Loko never looked back.
Will Thomas dropped 17 points for Zenit. Colton Iverson had 14 points and Mateusz Ponitka 11 points, five assists and four rebounds.
