Parma defeated Zenit St. Petersburg 86 – 80 on the road in the game that concluded this week’s games in VTB United League. This result improved Parma’s record to 3-6 while dropping Zenit, which was coming off an away win over Unics Kazan, to 4-5.

Artem Zabelin scored a game-high 19 points while Maxim Grigoriev had 18 points and Eigirdas Zukauskas 16 points and five assists for Parma. The latter also hit the 3-pointer that put his team up by 17 points, 59 – 76, with four minutes left to play. Zenit’s comeback attempts were futile.

Tim Abromaitis posted 16 points and nine rebounds for Zenit. Mateusz Ponitka contributed 15 points plus seven rebounds and Will Thomas 13 points plus five boards.

The victory of Unics over CSKA Moscow stands out for the rest of the league’s games this week. Coach Dimitris Priftis’ bounced back in style following the loss to Zenit by taking down the EuroLeague reigning champions in Moscow.

In the meantime, Khimki Moscow remained the only unscathed team in the league thanks to its win over Nizhny Novgorod.
