Mike James scored a team-high 23 points and dished out five assists as CSKA Moscow defeated Astana 104 – 91 to bounce back from the EuroLeague loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv and improve its VTB League record to 8-3.

The Kazakh side dropped to 3-6.

Malcolm Hill (game-high 28 points) and Dusan Ristic (22 points, 11 rebounds) led Astana’s efforts towards possibly pulling off an upset. But CSKA‘s offense was way superior and what ultimately won the day for the “Army Men”.

CSKA took an 84 – 68 lead at the beginning of the fourth period and had no problem retaining a safe advantage to reach the win.

Apart from James, Johannes Voigtmann and Semen Antonov dropped 16 points apiece and Kostas Koufos 11.
