Playing highly aggressive defense in various moments of the game which forced their opponents to 21 turnovers, Bulgaria defeated Belarus 78 – 68 in Botevgrad and stayed perfect in Group D of the pre-qualifiers.
Captain Pavel Marinov scored a game-high 22 points, grabbed seven boards and dished out four assists for Bulgaria while Sasa Vezenkov notched his second consecutive double-double in the pre-qualifiers with 15 points and an equal number of rebounds.
Vitaly Liutych scored 19 and Mikita Meshcharakou 11 for Belarus that played its first game in the tournament.
