Khimki Moscow almost achieved an incredible comeback but Unics prevailed in the end.

Unics Kazan completely surrendered a 17-point lead against Khimki Moscow but ultimately managed to win 83 – 80 on the road and improve its VTB League record to 15-1, thus remaining the standings leader.

The visiting squad was up 45 – 62 with only seconds remaining in the third period but they saw that advantage collapsing in the final quarter. Khimki scored 16 unanswered points in four minutes to make it 68 – 68 with  4:51 left to play and everything was up for grabs.

Unics reacted and went up 71 – 78 with two minutes left. Khimki once again made it a one-possession game and could’ve got the victory but Egor Vyalchev missed in his game-winning 3-point attempt in the final seconds.

Jamar Smith scored 21 points for the winning squad, Quino Colom posted a double-double of 13 points plus 10 assists while Maurice N’ Dour had 13 points and 8 rebounds.

Alexey Shved notched 19 points (5/16 f.g.) plus 6 assists, Anthony Gill 19 and Thomas Robinson 14 points plus 8 rebounds for Khimki that dropped to 9-9 and the fifth place.
