A horse owner in Turkey has apparently named one of his charges “Bogdanovic”. And no, any link to famous Serbian basketball player is far from “purely coincidental”. Quite the contrary.

Judging by Ismail Hadioglu’s  (the owner in question) twitter profile, his decision stemmed from his love for Fenerbahce. So yes, perhaps it’s not surprising that he picked this name for one of his horses.

It’s also not a matter of randomness that the jockey is dressed in the colors of the Euroleague finalists, isn’t it?

Considering the fact that the horse is two years old, it’s safe to assume that his name wasn’t aspired from the Croatian Bogdanovic who had also played in Fenerbahce during 2011-2014, but Bogdan who has been wearing the jersey of the Turkish team since summer 2014.

What makes the whole thing even more intriguing, is that “Bogdanovic”(the horse) is finishing first in races. And by a large margin. Much like the player, after whom it is christened, often wins games with Fenerbahce.

Perhaps a different nickname should be in order as well? Something along the lines of “buzzer-beating stallion” to further indulge into the specifics of the player’s strengths. Especially if the horse is also equally able for flashy delivery down the stretch.
