In recent years, the common consensus was that Tony Kukoc in 1995 registered the first and only until this tournament Eurobasket triple double. As it turned out, this is not right.

One of Eurohoops readers, Ivan Snajder, was kind enough to point out the mistake. The first triple double belonged to an other Croatian legend, center Stojko Vrankovic.

The iconic center registered also a triple double, two years before Kukoc, in Eurobasket 1993 with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks in the 3rd place game against Greece.

So why this feat was forgotten? Only the points made and no other stats are digitized and the valuable information was almost lost. However, the numbers were confirmed by none other that Vrankovic himself whom Eurohoops met today in Istanbul.

That makes the triple double that Romanian Andrei Mandache has achieved the third in Eurobasket history.
