While CSKA Moscow made contact with Sergio Rodriguez in order to lure him back to Europe, “El Chacho” wants to stay in the NBA and he is negotiating a new three-year deal with the Sixers.

The “Army Team” needs a top class point guard in order to replace Milos Teodosic who left for the LA Clippers. However, Rodriguez proved after last season that he belongs to the NBA and the Sixers want to secure his services for a long time.

The two sides are near a deal, Rodriguez is expected to get around $4 million per season, which is almost a raise compared to his initial $8 million contract for the 2016-17 season. Almost half of those money went to Real Madrid for the buy out of the player and now the Spanish point guard is going to get a multiyear deal without having any other financial obligiation to the Spanish powerhouse.

Unless something dramatic happens, 31 years old Rodriguez is going to get a sum over $12 million for the next three years and what’s certain is that his return to Europe is not going to happen soon.
