Zenit in VTB semifinals after emphatic sweep over VEF Riga

Zenit St. Petersburg became the first team to advance in the VTB League semfinals after a crushing victory over VEF Riga that made the 3 – 0 in the series.

Not only did Zenit St. Petersburg sweep VEF Riga in the VTB League quarterfinals but made a display of strength in Game 4, winning 92 – 51 on the road to punch the ticket to the next stage.

It was an excellent game on both ends for coach Karasev’s players that had Kyle Landry in big day with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Janis Timma added 15 and 5 rebounds, Aaron White 13 points plus 5 boards and Stefan Markovic pitched in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

For the losing side, Martins Meiers had 10 points and 8 rebounds while Alex Gordon scored 10.

Following the match, VEF Riga tweeted that the goal they had set in the beginning of the season was met with the qualification to the VTB League playoffs. They also gave their congratulations to Zenit St. Petersburg and wished good luck to their fellow Latvian Janis Timma.
